An introduction to digital learning methods

An introduction to digital learning methods
Individual learning is an active, inquiry-based process. Digital multimedia is a wonderful ‘raw material’ that students and their teaching support communities can use to tinker (i.e. explore new ideas), consolidate existing learning by sharing ideas with others and by creating new and wonderful ways of ‘seeing’ the world.

We created ‘Panmultimedia’  with the aim of supporting creative, self-directed learning of this kind by providing students access to child-safe, ad-free, digital multimedia resources (photographs, clipart and video). We are constantly building new collections. The possibilities for how these resources can be used are unlimited and we invite you to visit our Teachme web-app to see examples of educational materials that have been created for technology-assisted learning. Below are some simple suggestions that we think will to help get you started in terms using Panmultimedia photos, clipart and video resources.

Browsing
A picture says a thousands words. Digital resources capture aspects of real-worlds. There is much that can be gained from simply browsing and/or discussing topic areas of interest within the various natural history themes of our media library.

Story telling
Digital resources can be used as inspiration for creating narratives and portraying them in audio-visual form (i.e. video, group presentations, creative writing etc) using software packages like Microsoft PowerPoint, Roger Wagner’s HyperStudio, Zengobi Curio and Tumult Hype.

Teaching
The communication of ideas and in particular abstract concepts is greatly assisted with the aid of visual and audio resources. Panmultimedia digital resources can be used to create teaching resources for a wide variety of subject/topic areas.

Research
Panmultimedia digital resources can be used as a basis for exploring, representing, communicating  and building on existing knowledge.

Communication
Panmultimedia digital resources can be used to communicate ideas over an ever-growing variety of social and educational media platforms. Whether you are a teacher, a student, a story-teller or a researcher, we hope you will find these resources a perfect match for your creativity and imagination.
